It is Alive, Alive I Tell You, ALIVE!

Although I didn’t know it at the time, my passion for being a wedding officiant started back in 2006 when my brother and future sister-in-law asked if I would officiate their wedding.   I was honored that they were putting their trust in me and I didn’t want to let them down.

As I started to think about their ceremony, I knew I didn’t want it to be a 5 minute quickie that I had copied from somewhere on the web.  I mean, come on, this was my brother and future sister-in-law, and they deserved a ceremony that was not only beautiful but represented who they were as a couple.  I can honestly say that it took me quite a bit of research, and quite a bit of banging my head against a wall, before I had finally put together a pretty decent ceremony.

The amazing thing is, after all that, now seven years and 400 wedding ceremonies later, I still love being there on the couple’s special day, knowing that I can add so much to it by creating and delivering a wonderful ceremony that fits the couple.   And thus the reason I wrote the Asked to Officiate workbook.

I want every couple to have an incredible ceremony, and asking a friend or family member shouldn’t hinder that from happening or cause the aforementioned head banging.  The workbook is designed to provide someone with little or no experience all the tools needed to fairly easily prepare and present a beautiful ceremony.  I say fairly easily because it will take some thought and a bit of work but producing something wonderful usually does.
